Calling all critical thinkers, wilderness lovers, peaceful warriors, spiritual seekers, justice-makers and cultural creatives of every kind! In 2015, BC-Yukon KAIROS pulled together a diverse group of people to travel by chartered bus from August 24-31 to selected centres in British Columbia. On this journey they lifted up injustices identified in the communities we visited, as well as nurtured the seeds of hope we found there. By engaging with local activists, faith communities, First Nations, and other stakeholders, in a variety of ways including creative expression (the arts), we have begun to tell a new story about our common future. Forging new links of solidarity that transcend our geographical challenges, we promote more diverse participation in our democracy. PURPOSES of the RJB To frame justice issues in ways that challenge the “business as usual” story and allow us to articulate a new hope-filled story: one based on healthy relationships, respect for the web of life, and empowered communities. To encourage, support and celebrate local justice initiatives throughout BC that focus on environmental, economic and indigenous justice themes. To connect these local issues with provincial, national and global struggles whenever possible. To deepen conversations and share ideas about what reconciliation might look like in a post TRC reality.
