Overview

Enter our Social Media Action for Climate Knowledge (SMACK) Video Contest!

We are hosting a Climate Video SMACK-Down Contest –  to inspire environmental organizations and social media influencers to step up their game in combating climate misinformation and disinformation. We want to see engaging, creative, and informative short videos (90 seconds max) that raise awareness about climate issues, inspire action, or counter misinformation in an impactful way. The winner will be announced live at the Climate Action Provincial Assembly (CAPA) event on May 15, 2025, starting at 5:30 PM
 

The winning video will receive a $500 cash prize, second place will receive a $250 cash prize, and both will be featured across our platforms! (Available to residents of BC only. Please see Contest Terms & Conditions below)

Submission Guidelines

  • Videos are a maximum of 90 seconds long
  • Content should focus on climate awareness, solutions, or countering false or misleading information
  • Be creative! Humor, storytelling, and powerful messaging are all encouraged
  • Submissions must be original and not contain copyrighted material (unless you have permission)
  • By submitting, you grant WE-CAN permission to share your video on our platforms

Judging & Winner Selection

  • Only the top 5 videos will be shortlisted and shown at the event for final voting.
  • Two guest judges will judge the videos, and their top 5 videos will be shown at the event for final voting
  • People attending the event will vote on their favourite submission and choose the winner.
  • The winner will be announced live at the CAPA event on Zoom on May 15, 2025, starting at 5:30 PM.
  • Finalists must attend the event to be eligible to win.

Extended Deadline

All entries must be submitted by midnight on May 9, 2025. The top 5 finalists will be notified in advance.
