Indigenous Engagement Team

With encouragement from the BC Assembly of First Nations, WE-CAN launched the Indigenous Climate Action Data Quilt Project to map every Indigenous climate initiative in BC.  This project is in partnership with Sharon Marshall, a Metis/Cree entrepreneur who runs Cree8iv and www.DigitalDeva.org. In partnership with RAVEN, we also are hosting a webinar series on Indigenous Perspectives on Climate Action.

Local Government Team

Terms of Reference
We work to promote climate action at the municipal, rural, and regional level. Through our Climate Champions map, we supported 146 climate champions to be elected to regional and municipal councils and school boards in October 2022. We are continuing to support the elected champions in their new positions as well as local climate groups pushing for municipal and regional action.

Members Team

We work to strengthen relationships between WE-CAN’s climate action member-groups, and to seek new member groups, especially youth, business, labour, university, conservation, social justice, and religious groups. We are working to develop an interactive map of all of our member groups in BC.
