Tell B.C.’s Finance Minister: Don’t Give Away our Gas Resources to Global Billionaires!
From Dogwood: We have a few short months before the new gas royalty system is locked in on January 1st. This is our last chance to stop the NDP from locking in a fatally flawed formula for calculating gas royalties. If we don’t act now, the B.C. public will lose BILLIONS. The government promised to collect at least 50% of profits from the sale of our public gas resource. It’s now clear the royalty scheme preferred by industry lobbyists will capture just a fraction of that. We must stop this plan from moving forward, to save B.C.’s public finances. Our purpose is to create a group in every riding in BC to coordinate climate meetings with our MPs and MLAs. At the launch, you will learn about the initiative from Avi Dolgin, its volunteer organizer, and get guidance from Emiko Newman with the BC Climate Emergency Campaign about how to organize a great meeting with your MLA or MP. PICS Climate Internship Program (Apply by November 20)
The PICS Climate Internship Program helps organizations in BC reach their climate goals while giving university students a chance to hone their skills and acquire relevant work experience. Through an annual competitive process, the program offers up to $15,000 to eligible organizations to hire a student from UBC, SFU, UNBC, or UVic to assist with a climate action project in your organization/community.
