Connect, Learn, and Collaborate with Others Working at the Intersection of Climate Action and Local Government.
The West Coast Climate Action Network (WE-CAN) is excited to launch the Local Government Exchange Program — a new opportunity for members and allies to connect, learn, and collaborate with climate groups in other communities across British Columbia.
This program brings together organizations, community organizers, and climate advocates who are working to strengthen local climate action through partnerships with municipalities, regional districts, and other levels of local government.
By Participating, You Will:
- Share experiences, challenges, and solutions with WE-CAN member organizations across the province.
- Learn how local government works in BC and build your organization’s capacity to engage effectively.
- Gain exclusive access to a growing library of supporting documents, case studies, and resources.
- Connect and exchange ideas online through WE-CAN’s member forums—discussing problems, sharing successes, and finding practical solutions together.

- Community organizers
- Climate advocates and changemakers

- How can we respond more effectively to the fossil fuel industry’s assault on emissions-reduction efforts
- Strategies to get local governments to support Zero-Carbon Building Permit programs (Step Code).
- How to recognize and counter disinformation being spread using artificial intelligence.
- Developing your toolkit for working with local government and decision-makers.
- Exchanging ideas and best practices with climate organizations across BC.
- Exploring what new powers local governments need to combat the climate crisis.
