| Why are you interested in serving on the WE-CAN board? | I helped form WE-CAN and was initially elected to the board but due to several family and personal life challenges I was unable to serve at that time. My life has rebalanced now and I would love to be involved. I am deeply involved in climate justice knowledge mobilization across the world and am looking to deepen my efforts here at home. I greatly value network efforts such as this. |
| Tell us about your experience in the climate movement or with environmental justice work. | I have extensive work with respect to empowerment efforts in the UNFCCC and with the Convention on Biological Diversity. I'm currently working on a book for Harvard Education Press (at their request) on climate literacy. The last 25 years of my professional life have been dedicated to expanding climate literacy efforts at multiple scales across systems. This is my passion. www.debmorrison.me |
| What skills, perspectives, or lived experiences would you bring to the board? | I can bring a deep research and implementation systems perspective at both local levels, nationally, and internationally to cilmate work. I'm a locally elected official, I have worked with multiple scales of government on climate issues, and continue to advise and guide climate mobilization efforts grounded in justice. I have intersectional identities that influence my work but that I don't name specifically as I prefer for the larger voice of community collaborations and research to inform work collaboratively. |

| Is there anything else you'd like to share with us? | I adore all the work that is being done by WE-CAN and now that I have pulled back from much of my travel and university work, I hope to be able to contribute more directly to the work. |
