Join 100 Friends of WE-CAN; Become a Monthly Donor

With every year that the climate crisis grows stronger, our commitment to halt it must grow stronger too.  We founded the West Coast Climate Action Network a year ago to unite the passion of tens of thousands of climate activists across BC. A year later, we have 223 member organizations, a proliferation of projects, and a need to sustain ourselves financially. Would you be willing to put your purse behind your passion by becoming a founder member of “100 Friends of WE-CAN”, pledging a steady monthly donation?  If there are a hundred of us, holding hands together to sustain WE-CAN, we can become the financial wind beneath WE-CAN’s wings.

It’s Easy to Donate 

(1) Log in to your online banking account.  Click “Interact Payment”.

(2) A question will pop up: “Who do you want to send payment to?”  If you have used the Interact payment function before, you will see a pop-up list of recipients that you have dealt with in the past.  If this is the first time you are giving to WE-CAN, look for a line that says: “New Recipient” or “Add New Recipient.” (This line might show up in a smaller font and is easy to miss.)

(3) Select “New Recipient”.  A form will pop up asking for the new recipient’s Name and Email.  Type in our Name, West Coast Climate Action Network (You may be told that the name is too long, just type as much of our name as you can).  Type in our email:  treasurer@westcoastclimateaction.ca Check OK.

(4) This should take you back to the main menu.  Click “Interact Payment”. This time, when it asks who the recipient is, select West Coast Climate Action Network from the pop-up list.

(5) Continue with the form by indicating how much you want to send, and from which account.  If you would like to make this a monthly donation, select “Recurring Transfer” and indicate how often you would like to donate.

(6) Click “Continue”.  Double check details and click “Confirm”.

When the transaction goes through, our bank (Van City) will send our Treasurer an email to indicate that money has been transferred to our account.  At this point, we’ll send you a thank-you email to let you know that everything went through as intended.

  1. Log into your Vancity online banking
  2. Click “Transfer Money” on the left menu bar
  3. Fill in the required fields and choose the amount.
  4. To make it a monthly donation, select “Recurring Transfer” and indicate how often you would like to donate.
  5. Select Account:  “Another Member”
  6. Add Relationship # 91334068, “Business Chequing” account.
  7. Please send us an email letting us know of the particulars of your donation. Because of the bank’s privacy rules, Vancity will not divulge a donor’s name or contact information. 
  8. Click “Continue”.  Double check details and click “Confirm”.
  9. Upon receiving notice from Vancity that an internal transfer has occurred, we will send you a thank-you email to let you know that everything went through as intended. 

To donate by cheque, it must be made payable to “West Coast Climate Action Network” (NOT WE-CAN) and mailed to WE-CAN at 5115 Gordon Ave, Port Alberni, BC V9Y 6T5

I support West Coast Climate Action because I believe it’s crucial for all of us working to save our climate learn about each other’s efforts and collaborate where possible.  WE-CAN helps us do that.
